About Ruth
Abut Ruth

MY BACKGROUND

Prior to becoming a massage therapist, I had a career in theatre as an actor and educator. Thus I have training in the Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais Method, Yoga and other forms of body/mind awareness – all of which provide me a greater understanding of the structure and use of the body in daily life. I received my massage training at The Healing Arts Center in St. Louis, MO in 2008. I am passionate about continuing my education in the varied techniques of massage to further augment my skills and am selective about where I seek out classes.  I have studied with master practitioners from around the country. Most notably I have advanced training in Oncology Massage Therapy and Geriatric Massage.  Additionally, I am a continuous student of Reiki, Healing Touch, Yoga and meditation.  I love being a student and hope to never stop learning.

MY PRACTICE

I have been practicing since 2008 and currently am licensed by the State of Missouri, a member of the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP), and a recognized provider of Oncology Massage Therapy by the Society for Oncology Massage (S4OM).  I use a range of techniques to work with a variety of people. I work with people with cancer and cancer histories, older adults, pregnant women, and anyone struggling to manage stress. I am dedicated to creating a peaceful environment for my clients and hold myself to the highest of professional standards. I firmly believe that massage, energy work and body/mind awareness can benefit any client with managing pain, illness, anxiety, physical and emotional stress, depression, sleep disorders and a myriad of other conditions.

MY PASSION

I love the work...massage feeds my body and spirit like no other work I've done.  I get to be physical every day and help to bring comfort and healing to people.  I couldn't ask for a more creative and inspiring job.

I love my clients...ranging in age 14-95 and widely varying in physical prowess and condition. Whether stressed, physically active, athletic, injured or suffering from chronic pain or illness I work on all bodies cater to all needs. I feel honored that my clients put their trust in me; I respect all who walk through my door.

I love what I do...from the moment I began studying massage I knew that I found my passion. After years of studying the body as an instrument, I was able to understand it on a whole new and exciting level as a massage therapist.  I am creatively inspired through my work as a therapist and I strive to find what will suit each client's need. This work provides for me the perfect symbiotic relationship between creativity, body awareness, well-being & spirituality.

I love massage...a client of mine once said "if everyone received a foot massage everyday there would be world peace." I couldn’t agree more!
